Dog Training Daily Schedule Example

Here is a an example of a daily schedule for your dog while doing a more structured training reset. The times do not need to be the same every day, but can be used as a general guide. Overall, your dog should be crate, place or out with you doing something valuable (exercise, training, or relaxing on leash next to you).

Overnight: Sleeps in crate

  • 6:30a: Wake up, do your usual morning routine for yourself, do not rush to let dogs out

  • 7a: Let dogs out to potty

  • 7:30a: Back in crate while you get ready for morning activity

  • 8a: Feed dogs - Murphy needs to be in his crate while food is getting ready and feed him in crate (wait for eye contact before giving him the food)

  • 8:15a: Let dogs out to potty - then Murphy goes back in crate

  • 9a: Put leash on murphy when he’s in crate

  • 9:15a: walk/hike

  • 11a: get back home - walk murphy to his crate with a leash on for crate/nap time

  • 2p: Potty break

  • 2:30p: Murphy goes back in crate OR place

  • 3:30p: Potty break

  • 4p: More crate or place (sometimes I’ll give them a raw bone to chew on in crate for enrichment / mental stimulation)

  • 5p: place while you cook - have him tethered so he can not successfully break place while you aren't watching him

  • 6p: Crate while you prepare their dinner - feed Murphy in crate, wait for him to give eye contact before giving him his food

  • 6:30p: Potty break

  • 7-10p: Place while you watch tv, etc

9/10p: Bed time in crate
