PAWS & PEDALS
A 2 Day Mountain Bike Clinic For You AND Your Dog
Park City, Utah
2025 DATES NOW LIVE!
Hosted by:
Molly Avrin, Dog Trainer & Erica Tingey, Mountain Bike Coach

Biking with your dog sounds like an exciting (and relatively simple) adventure. But when you actually take your dog on the trail, she’s chasing after squirrels, rushing up to other dogs, and not following behind you. Not to mention, you don’t have the technical skills to feel confident about taking your dog around those switchbacks you’re dying to ride.
If you watch enviously as other dog owners take their pups on the bike trail but don’t have the skills to do it yourself, you’re in the right place. We created Paws and Pedals to help you reach those goals. It’s a 2-day intensive clinic that combines dog training with biking skills. Nestled in the beautiful mountains of Park City, Utah, we’ll take you and your dog from zero (or minimal) biking experience to everyday pros.

HOW IT WORKS
DAY 1
-
FOR YOU...
Nail the fundamentals of mountain biking, like correct body position, how to safely use your brakes, and tackle corners. This 6-hour clinic is hosted by Erica Tingley, our expert mountain bike trainer. You’ll learn to feel stable and confident before your dog joins you on the trail.
*In intermediate clinics, we’ll refine your body position and braking. Then we’ll move on to intermediate cornering techniques and learn to ride efficiently over large features in the trail.
-
AND FOR YOUR DOG
A full day of bike training for your dog! While you’re improving your bike skills, your dog will work with dog trainer, Molly Avrin, to learn how to bike safely next to you! We’ll focus on all of the basic leash work, how to stay in the safe spot (next to your hip/seat post) and go through each of our bike steps to get them biking on trail with you.
*The Beginner and Intermediate clinics are the same skill level for your dog…no prior bike training required.
DAY 2: COMBINE YOUR SKILLS
FOR YOU AND YOUR DOG
On day 2, we’ll bring your new bike skills and your dog’s training together. We will split up into two small groups. We’ll break for lunch then swap groups!

How Do I Know I’m Right for Paws and Pedals?
Requirements for You
You must be 21 years of age or older.
1 reserved spot equals 1 person and 1 dog (please reference FAQs at bottom of page if you have 2 dogs).
Beginner vs. Intermediate: Please reference the FAQs at the bottom of this page. If you are not sure which group is the best fit for your skill level, we are here to help! Reach out to us via email at support@petesadventurepack.com and we will put you in touch with Erica!
Requirements for Your Dog
Since this event will take place with a group of dogs, your dog must be social with other dogs (meaning that they can coexist nicely in the presence of other dogs). This is for the safety of you, your dog, and others in class. If you are unsure if this will be a good environment for your dog, please reach out to support@petesadventurepack.com, and Molly will be happy to chat with you.
Your dog does not need to be off-leash trained. There will be a range of dogs that can be off leash while biking and some that are still biking on leash. Both are 100% accepted!
Items to Bring (Required)
A modern mountain bike with a seat dropper post and flat pedals. (If you’re not familiar with a seat dropper post, please reach out and we can help).
A hip pack (to attach the leash to).

Hello, I'm Erica, a mountain bike skills coach based in Park City, Utah, with a passion for empowering women to ride confidently, safely, and with ease. Through my company, Women in the Mountains, I've spent the last nine years coaching over 3,000 athletes of all levels in skills clinics, private sessions, and retreats.
My journey into coaching began from a place of personal challenge. While fitness came naturally for me, technical riding did not. I dedicated myself to improving, dissecting techniques from videos of expert riders, but progress was slow. It wasn't until I hired a skills coach to identify my blind spots that I truly began to improve. The experience was transformative, fueling my hunger for confidence, speed, and efficiency on my bike. This revelation underscored the immense value of having a coach, a practice I continue to this day.
I've refined my curriculum to ensure my clients gain the skills they need to conquer every trail feature. The transformations I witness are powerful, with riders thriving as they elevate their mountain biking experiences.
My online course, the Mountain Bike Mastery Course, is where I work with the majority of my clients now, connecting with riders from all around the United States and New Zealand.
I am excited to work with each of you in person at the Pedals and Paws event this September!

Hi I'm Molly! Relationship focused dog trainer, located in Park City Utah. I’m also the lucky dog mom to 6 rescue dogs…Brooks, Koda, Sawyer, Francis, Lucas and Hank!
My journey with training started in the rescue world when I began fostering dogs in 2007. I started volunteering at the local shelter and there was a lab mix who was on the euthanasia list for simply being there for too long. She was an amazing dog and had a heart of gold…she just needed some basic training. So I called a local rescue and promised that if they helped save her, I would foster and get her ready for adoption. They agreed. From there on I was hooked…on fostering and learning everything that I could about training. I mentored and shadowed with top trainers and put all of my training efforts to the rescue dogs that needed it most.
In 2007, I also adopted my soul dog, a blue heeler mix named Pete. He was the catalyst for my passion in rescue and truly what led me to where I am today. If you knew Pete, you loved him. He was a kind, old soul and he showed me what a beautifully fulfilled and balanced dog should look like. Pete passed away in June, 2021 at the old and wise age of 14. His spirit lives on through our pack and every dog that I work with.
Today, I run my own training business, Pete’s Adventure Pack and the Adventure Dog Channel (my online membership program)…combining my two passions: outdoor adventure and dogs. Through my work, I’ve found that high-energy dogs experience a much more fulfilling life when they’re included on adventures (like biking and skiing). But most people experience roadblocks when training their dogs for these activities.
Why Bike with Your Dog?
The day I started mountain biking with our dogs, everything changed. They began to look at me like I was the coolest person on the planet. Our relationship grew to a level it had never been before. We were more connected and in sync and it was as if I had flipped a switch. Looking back on it, I did. I flipped the fulfillment switch. Biking and getting to use their bodies to the fullest is what they needed.
Don’t get me wrong, our dog’s were going hiking, camping and lots of other fun things, but they were never getting to full out run in a structured way like they do when we’re biking. When they’re biking, they are running beside the bike (at the seat post or behind) so not only are they physically fulfilled from running but they are also mentally fulfilled from having to focus on staying with the bike. It’s the ultimate fulfillment activity for a dog (big or small).
As with every activity with our dogs on trail, there comes a responsibility to bike safely and responsibility, not only for our dogs but for us and others on the trail. I’m of course a big fan of biking with dogs, but I’m an even bigger fan of doing it SAFELY

READY TO BIKE WITH YOUR DOG WITH CONFIDENCE?
FAQS
-
No your dog does not need prior training. We will meet your dog where they are currently at and start from the very basics of leash work! Our end goal is to get your dog ready to mountain bike safely with you on the trails. However every dog is different and while some dogs may be ready for off leash singletrack biking, others may still need to be on leash and working doulbetrack trails or even the parking lot/trailhead. We will go at the pace of you and your dog and strive for progress over perfection.
-
As much as we would love for you to bring both dogs, the clinic is really set up for you working with 1 dog.
1 paid spot equals 1 person + 1 dog.
If your spouse/friend wants to bring your second dog, they will need to pay for their own spot.
-
When Molly is working with your dog, she and her team will either be in a parking lot, trailhead or on the trails! While your dog is taking a break and napping (which is 100% necessary for proper learning), they will be in a crate in her temperature controlled van. There will ALWAYS be someone from Molly’s team with the dogs in the van, making sure everyone is comfortable.
If your dog is not crate trained, that is OK - We can work through this with you and get your dog settled in. If you have questions or concerns on this, email support@petesadventurepack.com and we can set up a consultation call!
-
Beginner: This will be your first time mountain biking or you have only been mountain biking a short time. You understand basic riding skills but would like to increase skills and confidence. You are currently most comfortable on green trails with smooth dirt.
Intermediate: You have been mountain biking for a few years and have ridden a variety of terrain. You feel comfortable going over small rocks, roots and tackling blue trails. You would like to build more confidence in your skills and be able to ride more technical terrain.
If you are unsure which group you fit best with, please reach out to support@petesadventurepack.com and Erica can help!
